In tandem with the opening of Bar Moruno, I was also hired to develop the same set of branding and digital for its sister restaurant, Causita. Helmed by Chef Ricardo Zarate, Causita—both slang for “friend” and a type of potato dish in Peru—resulted in the design of a potato friend hand-painted on the façade to welcome guests. He also made surprise appearances on the menu and website as well. Causita has since closed, but served as an opportunity to further explore my skills as an illustrator. As part of the design exploration prior to project start, I also developed a deck that dove deep into the history of Nikkei cuisine, which helped informed font choices, colorways, and overall tone.
